Yosemite National Park is a remote spot with a mountainous terrain, but it is generally easy getting here. You can vacation here year-round but be aware that there may be seasonal or random road closures due to snow, flood, fires and/or rockslides. Regardless of how you travel initially to get to the area of Yosemite, ultimately you will travel into the Park on some type of wheeled vehicle. If you fly into one of the larger cities in California, renting a car and traveling the remainder of the distance is best. The Park is accessed via four roads – two western routes through Mariposa and Groveland, an eastern route through Lee Vining, and a southern route through Fresno and Oakhurst.
