Wawona Hotel
The most interesting lodging facility in Yosemite National Park is the historic Wawona Hotel. Since the 1870s, this establishment has provided room and board to travelers. A stay at this National Historic Landmark is a trip back in time. It is a perfect example of the architecture and furnishings of days gone by with its claw-foot tubs, over-stuffed chairs, and marble-top dressers. With its old world charm and interesting history, the Wawona Hotel is a great place to stay.
The Wawona Hotel has a total of 104 rooms housed in six buildings, and furnished in period pieces and antiques. Fifty of the rooms have private baths while the rest are served by central restrooms and shower facilities. All rooms offer daily maid service, but there are no telephones or televisions, allowing guests to completely relax while on vacation.
Open seasonally, additional amenities include a golf course, a swimming pool and a tennis court. It is located near the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and Chilnualna Falls. The Wawona Hotel is a great place to stay and relax while staying in Yosemite National Park. The hotel's European design, complete with verandas outside many of the rooms, gives guests incredible views of the Wawona area of Yosemite. While visiting Yosemite, the Wawona guest can visit nearby attractions such as the Mariposa Grove of big trees.
While staying at the Wawona take the time to examine and appreciate the architecture of the buildings. This site is listed in the National Register as nationally significant in the area of art, regionally significant in the areas of commerce, conservation, and transportation.
