Curry Village
Curry Village, sometimes called Camp Curry, is the most reasonably priced and the largest lodging facility in Yosemite National Park. The options at Curry Village are diverse and include a motel, cabins with and without private restrooms/showers, and tent cabins without plumbing. Because of its popularity, it is necessary to make your reservations at Curry Village at least ten months in advance of your arrival.
Curry Village has it all – from motel rooms to primitive tent cabins without any plumbing. None of the rooms and/or cabins has televisions or air conditioning. However, the Village is conveniently located in the south central part of Yosemite National Park. It is easy to "wagon wheel" from Curry Village on day trips to famous attractions in the Park.
The standard motel rooms are located in the Stoneman House and have a private bath, daily maid service and heat – but no telephones and no televisions. The cabins with baths are simple wood structures with electricity – but no telephone or televisions. The cabins are charming with their outdoor decks where you can sit and enjoy the view. The cabins without baths are also simple wooden structures with propane heat and no electricity, no plumbing, telephones or televisions. Restrooms and showers are within a short walking distance. All cabins have daily maid service, linens and blankets.
The canvas tent cabins are wood-framed on a raised wooden platform. They are equipped with beds with linens and electrical lights, but no electrical outlets, telephones, televisions or plumbing. Two central shower and restroom facilities are within a short distance. Daily maid service NOT provided.
The conditions at Curry Village are most primitive than at the luxury lodging facilities in other places in the Park. However, there are reasonably priced and therefore attract many visitors each year. And, besides, who wants to spend that much time in their room when they are surrounded by such scenic beauty!
