The Grand Canyon of Tuolumne River is a must-see destination if you plan on visiting Yosemite National Park. Visitors here are lucky enough to view a plethora of great natural features that are quite beautiful and unique. For instance, if you're interested in looking at some grand waterfalls, the trip to this location won't be a disappointment. There are several spectacular waterfalls in the Grand Canyon area that are breathtaking.
Waterwheel Falls is the most famous of the bunch. It was given this name because it shows off an impressive circular plume of water when the river and the winds run high.
The Muir Gorge is another amazing feature that you have to see if you visit the canyon. This is where the lower canyon walls come closer together to form an impressive chasm. Pate Valley is the section of the canyon that is located below Muir Gorge where the canyon walls widen yet again. 6 km lower down you'll find the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.
If you want to hike in this area, there is a trail running along the Tuolumne River from the headwaters of the river to below Pate Valley. A challenging trail, take note that it is rocky, steep, and rather demanding for the beginner.
