Park Shuttle Bus System

The Yosemite National Park has a shuttle bus system that connects three communities to each other and the park itself, making it easier and more affordable than driving. Many tourists now use the buses as it is a quick and easy way to reach the park's many attractions as well as avoiding parking dilemmas when planning a holiday or camping excursion in the park.

Most people are constantly frustrated by traffic problems in many national parks across the United States, especially during the summer season. Parks like Yosemite National have been running a special system of buses using their park shuttle bus system to ease not only the traffic congestion, but make it more pleasant to reach the park and its many attractions. In fact, three nearby towns are on its routes, allowing tourists to stay in comfortable accommodation and still enjoy a day of recreation without all the hassle.

The routes began in the year 2000 and served nearby communities such as Mono, Merced and Mariposa. In fact, it has got quite the reputation as even disabled passengers can enjoy a trip into the park.

The system has two schedules – winter and summer. Rides are offered daily and the valley route is completely free. However, tickets are minimal in price otherwise and can be purchased at hotels, stores and government offices within the three towns, as well as in the park and on the buses themselves.

Buses stop at varied destinations, including hotels, the park lodge and varied viewpoints. Special coaches are used to make the ride more comfortable and some even have wheelchair lifts. In fact, any visitors wishing to use that particular service are advised to contact the system offices ahead of time to ensure they are not waiting unnecessarily for a bus.
