Accessibility
Yosemite National Park is a wilderness that is extremely accessible. Many attractions here are designed to be "user friendly" regardless of the "user's" age, mental aptitude, or physical ability.
Plan Ahead
A complete accessibility brochure is available from the Park Service (download PDF here) or at any of the Entrances and/or Visitor Centers. You can use this brochure to plan your activities while in the Park.
Accessibility Placard
If you are temporarily disabled, do not have a disability license plate on your car, or failed to bring your disability placard with you, you can obtain a temporary accessibility placard at any of the Park entrances, visitor centers or campgrounds.
The temporary accessibility placard will allow you to drive on some paved roads otherwise closed to private vehicle traffic. (Happy Isles Loop Road and Mirror Lake/Meadow Road). You will also be able to park in designated handicapped parking areas.
Wheelchair Rental
Manual wheelchairs and electric scooters are available for rent. It is advisable to make reservations.
Bicycle Rental
During the warmer season, bicycles including tandem bicycles can be rented. Tandem bicycles are a good option for those visitors who are vision impaired. A hand crank bicycle is also available for rent.
Guide Dogs
Signal and guide dogs are allowed on shuttle buses, on Yosemite Valley trails, in the backcountry, and in concessionaire accommodations, shops, and restaurants. All signal and guide dogs must be kept on a leash.
Many hikes and trails in Yosemite National Park are wheelchair accessible and during the summer season, many of the interpretive programs are given in sign language.
