Yosemite Falls

Yosemite Falls hits a sweet spot for any one who ventures through Yosemite National Park. Broken down into an upper and lower fall with "the cascades" in between, this beautiful waterfall is breathtaking and has rightfully earned the title of the tallest waterfall in North America.

Yosemite Falls plunge, and when we say plunge we mean it. The waterfall totals 2,425 feet from the tip top of the upper falls to the base of the lower falls. It is the sixth highest waterfall in the world. The upper falls topple 1,430 feet making it the 20th tallest waterfall in the world. Between the two main falls, the aptly titled "cascades" are series of smaller plunges that lack a major drop. The final decent, the lower fall, drops 320 feet and features the most viewed points of the waterfall. It merges with the Merced River in Yosemite Valley at its base. This fantastic, tiered waterfall customarily flows year round.

This overwhelming waterfall, that shares the name of the park it is located in, has easy and extremely strenuous trails which can be accessed on foot or by car. The trailhead to the Upper falls is located at Sunnyside campground on Northside Drive. You can also park at Yosemite Lodge, which is across from the Lower falls, and walk to the trailhead. However, parking is limited, so most opt for the shuttle from Yosemite Village.
