Sentinal Falls

Sentinel Falls is of the tiered type of waterfall. This particular tired waterfall in Yosemite National Park, consists of 6 large drops along 1,920 feet. It ranks in at number twelve on the highest waterfalls in the world list however, is rarely the main attraction in the meadow it share with other falls.

The curvaceous Sentinel Falls is a long series of cascades that plunges into Yosemite Valley and runs along Sentinel Rock. It is stunning and very tall at that, clocking in at a height of nearly 2,000 feet. It has a low drainage and is usually dry by July so the best time to see Sentinel Falls is during its peak from April through June. However magnificent it may be, unfortunately for the waterfall it has some stiff competition from the impressive Yosemite Falls which is directly across the valley. Lucky for Sentinel Fall's visitors', they may be the only ones hiking the waterfalls trail to the top or ogling it from the valley.

There is no base trail but there is a trail to the top which can be reached by Sentinel Dome trailhead. Great views can also be found along Yosemite National Park's Southside Drive by parking at the insert along the Four Mile trailhead, just east of the Sentinel Beach and picnic area.
