Nevada Falls

The amazing sight of Nevada Falls is completely breath taking. After taking a tumble off of the stone cliff nicknamed Liberty Cap, the waters from Nevada Fall go on a unique journey that is a rare, awe inspiring sight for viewers to behold. No other fall in Yosemite is quite like it.

Nevada Fall splashes 594 feet off of the cliff known as Liberty Cap. The waters continue on their journey down the giant staircase and churn into a new waterfall, below Nevada Falls and through Emerald Pool, called Vernal Fall. The waterfall inevitably flows into Yosemite Valley's Merced River.
The hike to the top is treacherous. First, one must make 317 feet to Vernal Fall, a relatively short hike. The next two miles, along the Mist Trail, will take viewers to Nevada Fall. The entire mileage equals 3.4 miles of difficult trail. The hike is certainly not for the faint of heart or those with bad knees but it is certainly worthwhile if you fit the criteria and can take the glaring sun for parts of the journey.
You can reach the waterfall by taking Southside Drive in Yosemite National Park. Drive to Curry Village and park. Take the free shuttle to Happy Isles and get off at stop 16. You can't miss the paved trail to Nevada Falls.
