Waterfalls //
The stunning Horsetail Falls in Yosemite National Park seemingly drops off of the edge of the colossal rock wall named El Capitan. The waterfall is nearly 1,000 feet long and has its best flows from December through April - approximately. Unlike other falls, the best time to see Horsetail is in February.
Horsetail Falls is also known as El Capitan Falls after the infamous Yosemite National Park cliff it cascades over and carves out. In order to really see the fall you must look up to the very top of El Capitan where it flows. Travelers who plan on visiting the fall in the summer months might be disappointed. It dries up around the month of May and returns with vengeance each December. Horsetail Fall lovers claim the best month to ogle the spectacular waterfall is during February. The sun strikes the rock at such a perfect angle that Horsetail Falls seems to be on fire and is truly a mind-blowing sight to behold.
When traveling through Yosemite, go east from the Yosemite Lodge on Northside Drive for about 2 ½ miles. The picnic area located on the right hand side is the paramount location to enjoy Horsetail Fall's scenery.
