Cell Phone Coverage

Due to the high terrain found in much of Yosemite National Park, cell phone service is very limited.

If you are traveling in the Park, it is best not to rely on your cell phone to stay connected to family and/or friends, or to expect to use it if you encounter some type of emergency. The cell phone coverage is largely dependent on your individual service provider and where you are located within the Park.

Tell Someone Where you are Going
Without the guaranteed use of a cell phone, visitors must revert to old safety habits. Before leaving the main road or trailhead, make sure that someone knows where you are going and when you expect to return. Never hike, rock climb, or backpack alone.

Cell Service
As technology improves, it is likely that cell phone service in the Park will also improve. Currently digital cell service is available in and near Yosemite Village to AT&T and Verizon customers, (you may get a weak signal elsewhere in Yosemite Valley, as well). Verizon customers with analog-capable phones may receive service near Wawona, Crane Flat, and Tuolumne Meadows.
